Gear One Automotive
Technology (Gear One) sincerely desires that there be no misunderstanding regarding any part of this transaction. We therefore
request that the customer read this warranty and sign it before accepting delivery of the vehicle or differential. This is
our only warranty expressed or implied. General conditions and exclusions are covered on the back of this warranty.
The following warranty conditions, if checked, apply to the work performed
under the above referenced repair order:
q New ring and pinion gears should not be subjected
to towing or heavy loads for the first 500 miles after installation. The customer agrees to follow the break-in procedure
on the back of this warranty.
q Gear One reserves the right to limit the warranty
on carry-out work, should it be determined by Gear One that a failure is due to the workmanship of others or was caused by
factors not apparent to Gear One because of the absence of the vehicle.
q Positraction chatter is normal for limited slip
differentials and quite often cannot be avoided. Both tires must measure the same from the ground to the top of the wheel
in order for a limited slip differential to function properly, without premature wear. A friction modifier acceptable to the
manufacturer must be added to the differential oil to reduce positraction chatter when the oil is changed.
q Locking differentials may bang and clunk during
normal operation. Both tires must measure the same from the ground to the top of the wheel in order for a locking differential
to function properly.
q Gov-Lock differentials in General Motors trucks
are very weak and may lead to premature differential failures, including damage to other axle parts.
q Oversize tires, as explained on the back of this
form, will void this warranty.
q Gear One does not warranty any product or installation
for off-road or competition use.
q Gear One does not warranty any product or installation
that shows evidence of abuse or neglect.
q Gear noise is common in this differential application
or gear ratio.
q Other:
Gear One will provide warranty subject to the terms contained herein.
DIFFERENTIAL CARE, WARANTY, AND BREAK-IN
INFORMATION
CONDITIONS THAT ARE WARRANTED: Bearing wear, seal leakage and
workmanship are warranted for six (6) months for passenger cars and two (2) wheel drive trucks, and ninety (90) days for four
(4) wheel drive trucks, motor homes, and any vehicle used for towing. Gear One complies with the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty
Act. All new parts are warranted by their respective manufacturer, not by Gear One. While most parts are warranted for one
year or more, some manufacturers may have a limited warranty or no warranty at all. Manufacturers do not warranty collateral
damage to other parts caused by a failure in a part they have manufactured. Gear One will not be responsible for informing
the customer of manufacturers warranty policies unless requested at the time this warranty is signed. Gear One does not warrant
used parts, unless stated otherwise. Vehicles or differentials submitted for warranty consideration must be returned to Gear
One with freight or towing pre-paid for our inspection and determination. Our determination will be final.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS: Customer supplied parts or the labor to
install customer supplied parts. Damage due to abuse, overloading, or lubrication failure (e.g. contaminated oil, low oil
level). Ring and pinion noise when checked on the front of this warranty and with all used gear sets. Positraction chatter
or noise from locking differentials. Damage caused to internal parts due to bent or damages housings. Damage caused by vehicles
that are used off-road or for competition. Damage due to overloading caused by oversized tires. Oversized tires are defined
as: over 31 tall on mini and mid sized vehicles; over 33 tall on full size ½ ton vehicles; and over 35 tall on full size ¾
and 1 ton vehicles. Incidental or consequential damages such as telephone calls, loss of time or revenue, perishable goods,
inconvenience, or commercial loss are not covered. ANY OUTSIDE REPAIRS TO THE WORK DONE BY GEAR ONE VOIDS THIS WARRANTY.
NEW GEAR BREAK-IN: All new gear sets require a break-in period
to prevent damage from overheating. After driving the first 15-20 miles it is best to stop for 45 minutes or more and let
the differential cool before proceeding. Gear Ones warranty requires that the vehicle be driven at least 500 miles before
towing or heavy acceleration. Gear One recommends towing for very short distances (less than 15 miles) and letting the differential
cool before continuing during the first 45 towing miles. Differential oil should be changed after the first 500 miles. This
will remove any metal particles or phosphorus coating that has come from the new gear set.
The greatest damage results during the first 500 miles when
a new ring and pinion has been run while the oil is very hot. Any heavy use or overloading at this time will cause irreparable
damage to the gear set and will not be warranted by Gear One.
ANY OVERLOADING OR OVERHEATING WILL CAUSE THE GEAR
OIL TO BREAK DOWN AND THE RING AND PINION WILL FAIL.
We hope this information prevents any misunderstanding. We
sincerely appreciate your business.
